What My German Text offers:

When you hire me for the job you can be sure to receive a well-written, enjoyable-to-read manuscript in immaculate German with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation that captures not just the words but the feelings, atmosphere and tone of your personal voice. The completed text will not sound translated but instead as if it was originally written in German.

I always engage an external proofreader who checks my work to ensure you receive the highest possible quality texts.

Sometimes localization is needed to make a text more relatable to the German audience. I address details such as the use of metric instead of imperial units, common sayings, figures of speech, as well as cultural differences, etc. to make sure the German readers will love your work!

Self-publishing books in a foreign market can be daunting and you might need help translating additional material along the way. I understand that your ad copy, blurbs and author bio are important selling tools, too and quite often have taken a significant amount of effort and time to be written in English. You can rest assured that I will do the same and give them the attention and care they deserve!

Translating and editing your book in German does take time and since I translate every manuscript you entrust me with personally there is a limit of how many projects I can do at any given time. As a general guideline, you should allow at least one week for every 10.000 words to be translated. Once a deadline is set you can trust that I will deliver the manuscript on time.

As a freelancer I am easy to talk to, always straightforward (very German) and clear in my communication. I appreciate an honest, professional and ongoing work relationship, will answer your requests in a timely manner and will lend a helping hand wherever possible.

To provide you with a quote, I kindly request you send me an excerpt of the manuscript (around 1000 words). This will give both of us the chance to see if we are a good fit for the project! You get the chance to receive feedback from an external reader on my writing style and I can judge how long it will take me to translate your work. Please contact me here or send me an email to mygermantext@gmail.com

Once you have decided to hire me as your translator, I will send you a contract that will outline the agreed-upon deadline and fee for the translation. The completed Microsoft Word file will be delivered via email as well as my tax invoice for your records.

All rights to the translated text will be transferred to you once final payment has been received and no future royalties will be charged.
